Boys Swimming: Pittsford wins on senior day

Pittsford Swimming and Diving team swam their last home meet of the season on Thursday.
The win represented Coach Mark Morris’ 200th victory in his 19th season as the head coach. He has been involved with the program for 41 years. This is his final year with the team as he is retiring at end of the season.
Pittsford remains unbeaten with a 11-0 record, 9-0 in Section 5 dual meets.
Pittsford led off with their 200 Medley Relays and a 1-2 start. In the 200 Free it was 1-2-3 with Jesse Bennett (1:55.16), Casey Ransford (1:59.64) and Grey Ankenman (1:59.90).
Junior Varsity have also been unbeaten all season and continued their dominance with 1-2-3 in the 200 Indiviual Medley with Ethan Yung (2:27), Aiden Stanley (2:34) and Sahaj Kumar (2:40) - JV 50 Free was the same 1-2-3 result with Parker Neale (26.14), Alex McPherson (27.36) and Elliot Ding (28.49).
The varsity 50 Free is always an exciting race with lots of action. Timo Krapf won in 23.19 with Mike Shenel (R-H) second (23.24) and PJ Ransford third (23.35).
In diving Pittsford twisted and turned, applause erupting after each successful completion. Dylan Marin (321.05) outscored his close friend and rival Sam Randall (292.40) with Sean Riley (217.05) continuing to devlop his repertoire of dives.
Following the diving there was a celebration for the seniors. There are 14 seniors this year and each was recognized for their contributions to the team, some of whom are in their first season while others have been on the team for six years.
The seniors on the team this year are William Beeley, Gene Charles, Marc Colby, Travis Crawford, Vincent Criscuolo, Langdon Kessner, Dylan Marin, Trevor McCrobie, Chris McPherson, Cesar Neri, Shea Ransford, Sam Roberts, Matt Tanchick and Alex Woodard.
In the 500 Free PJ Ransford dominated the event lapping the rest of the swimmers, setting a new pool record and finishing in 4:39.36, with Max Johnson second (5:34.06) and Lamngdon Kessner third (5:59.99). In the 200 free relay the winning team were all juniors with Austin Ling, Jack Thiemel, Chris Rudmann and Brett Eslinger (1:33.38).
Matt Tanchick won the 100 Back (55.53), with his teammate Albert Xiao close behind (57.21) and Trevor McCrobie completing the 1-2-3 in 1:00.13. The individual events closed out with Shea Ransford (1:03.14), Will Dawson (1:03.68) and Vince Criscuolo (1:06.43) in the 100 Breast.
Pittsford won the meet 111-71.
On Tuesday Pittsford travelled to Irondequoit winning 108-69 with a strong team performance. Freshman Arthur Fan had two victories in the 200 IM (2:01.98) and the 500 Free (4:58.05).
Junior Brett Eslinger also had two victories in the 50 Free (22.65) and 100 Breast (1:02.24). PJ Ransford won the 200 Free (1:46.49), Matt Tanchick the 100 Free (50.02), Timo Krapf the 100 fly (56.72) and Albert Xiao the 100 back (57.35).
This week the team is preparing for the season ending JV MCCI meet in Canandaigua on Friday, while the Varsity swimmers travel down to Long Island for the Eastern States Invitational.
